Matt Tinnell

Mr. Tinnell is a native of Duluth, Georgia and received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Georgia in Athens. Students under Mr. Tinnell’s direction have been selected to perform with some of the most elite state and national performing ensembles, including the Georgia All-State Band, the Georgia All-State Jazz Band, The Cadets, The Cavaliers, Phantom Regiment, Spirit of Atlanta, and Music City Mystique, University of Georgia Redcoat Band, Georgia Tech Institute of Technology Yellow Jacket Marching Band, University of Alabama Million Dollar Band, Western Carolina University Pride of the Mountains Marching
Band and Jacksonville State University Marching Southerners.

Mr. Tinnell has earned several awards and honors throughout his college and professional career including “Teacher of the Year” at Winn Holt Elementary School in Gwinnett County. Since 1995, Mr. Tinnell has been a performer, adjudicator, and educator in the WGI, Drum Corps International, and High School Band circuits. His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), and the Percussive Arts Society (PAS). Mr. Tinnell is endorsed by Innovative Percussion Inc., and Sabian Cymbals.

Mr. Tinnell resides in Jefferson, GA with his wife, Amy, their two children, Alex and Lora, and their dog, Penelope Grace.
